At weRfoods, the circular economy is a commitment to the future and an essential part of our sustainability philosophy.
We focus on transforming the by-products of our activity into valuable resources, reintroducing them into the value chain to optimize the use of natural resources to the maximum. From renewable energies to waste revaluation, we lead sustainable innovation projects that not only comply with regulations, but also drive a positive impact throughout our supply chain. This constant effort has led us to be pioneers in obtaining the AENOR Zero Waste certificate, reaffirming our goal of achieving a by-product-free activity.

Solar panels
Given our commitment to the environment, we have solar panels on our farms and plants, allowing us to generate renewable energy and optimize our energy consumption.
We aim to continue to expand these facilities using new available land to increase our renewable energy generation capacity.This investment in clean technology reinforces our vision of a circular economy, ensuring that every step of our value chain contributes to a more sustainable future. By adopting these practices, we are not only fulfilling our environmental responsibilities, but also leading the way toward a more planet-friendly production model.

Fertilizers
Through the initiatives of our R&D team, we have developed innovative processes that allow us to recycle materials that would otherwise be wasted, such as sludge from our sewage treatment plants, which we turn into compost.
Thanks to these efforts, we produce 11 tons per day of compost and organic fertilizers of animal origin, transforming slurry and other waste from our activity into natural fertilizer. This not only brings significant value to local farmers, but also contributes to closing the cycle of nature in a sustainable way.
Water treatment plant
Responsible water management is an essential priority within our circular economy model.
To minimize consumption and environmental impact, we have implemented purification systems that allow us to reduce, reuse and optimize water at each stage of our processes. Thanks to our treatment plant, the water used in production and cleaning is purified and then returned to the environment in optimal conditions or reused, generating significant savings in water resources.
Composting plant
At weRfoods we have a composting plant dedicated to transforming the by-products derived from our activity into new products that are reintroduced into the value chain. The initiatives of our R&D team stand out, which have made it possible to convert raw material waste into fertilizers and the sludge from our sewage treatment plants into compost. In this way, we create a virtuous cycle where nothing is wasted and reaffirm our commitment to the environment.
